The nonprofit organization proudly joined the Living Donor Circle of Excellence, a program created be the American Society of Transplantation (AST), which celebrates employers who implement internal policies that provide salary support to their employees who choose to become living organ donors

LiveOnNY was presented with the prestigious DAISY Team Award for Extraordinary Nurses in recognition of the myriad ways the organ procurement organization partners with Mount Sinai Queens to go above and beyond to honor, save and change lives through organ and tissue donation. The individual award was presented to Brian Papszycki, Director of Hospital Services at LiveOnNY and Isabella Royes, Director of Cardiac Services & System Nursing Operation for Mount Sinai Health System. The team award was presented to LiveOnNY staff and also to members of the Mount Sinai Queens emergency department, intensive care, operating, perioperative and palliative care teams for working as an interdisciplinary team to support organ and tissue donation

LiveOnNY Board of Directors announced that Leonard Achan RN, MA, ANP has been named the organization's next President and CEO. Achan will succeed longtime leader Helen Irving, who is retiring. Achan, a veteran healthcare executive with over 20 years of leadership experience, who currently serves as the President of the Hospital for Special Surgery’s Innovation Institute, will assume the role of President and CEO of LiveOnNY starting November 29, 2021.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Governor Cuomo’s stay at home order, National Donate Life Month will be entirely digital in New York this year and will feature inspirational blog posts and social media messages about this important cause. The month is hosted by LiveOnNY, the nonprofit organization tasked with overseeing organ, eye and tissue donation in the greater New York City area. The month was designed to raise awareness and inspire New Yorkers to register as lifesaving organ donors. For the third straight year, Donate Life Month will culminate in an online, region-wide “Moment of Gratitude” for organ donors and their families.
