LiveOnNY President & CEO Delivers Keynote to Healthcare Leaders of New York
LiveOnNY President & CEO, Leonard Achan delivered the opening keynote at the 9th Annual Healthcare Leaders of New York Mini-Congress held at the New York Academy of New York.
In his remarks, he spoke to value creation, LiveOnNY’s success and leadership in healthcare as well as cooperation between the donor hospitals and LiveOnNY. He spoke about the importance of leading with integrity and purpose.
From 2022-2025, organ donation in the New York metro region increased by nearly 70%, with referrals from more than 100 hospitals doubling. Lenny describes what it takes and how the healthcare ecosystem is constantly changing, challenged, and tested, and credits the success of LiveOnNY to the New York metro region’s community stepping up to say ‘yes’ and the healthcare ecosystem meeting the call.

We all have a role in ending the wait list. Nearly 8,000 New Yorkers statewide — 131 of whom are children under the age of 18 — are waiting for a lifesaving transplant, according to United Network for Organ Sharing. Nationwide, the number is approximately 100,000 - enough to fill two Yankee stadiums. But the myths of organ donation are starting to fade away and New Yorkers are saving more lives than ever. Together, as a community, New York has the power to end the wait list.
