About Transplant Games of America

Transplant Games of America is a multi-sport festival event produced by the Transplant Life Foundation for individuals who have undergone life-saving transplant surgeries. Competition events are open to living donors, organ transplant recipients, bone marrow, corneal and tissue transplant recipients. More than an athletic event, the Transplant Games highlight the critical importance of organ, eye and tissue donation, while celebrating the lives of organ donors and recipients.The 2020 Transplant Games of America (TGA) will be held July 17-22, 2020, in the Meadowlands of New Jersey.

General rules and registration

Condition of entry: Transplant recipients, living donors and international athletes compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in individual and team/relay events. There are two divisions of competition in which men, women, and youth will compete against each other.

  • Division 1: solid organ transplant recipients
  • Division 2: living donors, corneal and tissue recipients, bone marrow recipients

Age categories: Athletes will compete in the following youth and adult age categories

  • Youth: 5 and under, 6-10 years, 11-13 years
  • Adult: 14-17 years, 18-29 years, 30-39 years, 40-49 years, 50-59 years, 60-69 years, 70+

Tentative special events 2020

Coffee House: An open mic forum for donor families, living donors, recipients and supporters. Participants can relax over dessert and coffee and share personal thoughts on how donation has affected their lives.

Donor Tribute Ceremony: A special tribute to our loved ones who have donated organs, tissue and corneas at the time of death and living donors who have given organs so others could have a second chance at life. All donor families and Games participants are encouraged to attend.

Transplant Workshops and Seminars: These sessions offer encouragement, education and support to those who have been affected by organ transplantation and/or donation.

Quilt Display / Quilt Pinning Ceremony: A large number of quilts will be displayed throughout the entire duration of the games. In addition, there will be a quilt pinning ceremony for those who wish to create a quilt square.

Quarter Century Club Dinner: An opportunity for all attendees to attend and celebrate recipients and donors of over 25 years. Open to all TGA attendees you are encouraged to attend this special event of dinner and dancing.
