Organ Transportation Bill
Legislative Call to Action
The Organ Transportation Legislation (S.5670-Kennedy/A.3690a-Gunther) is on the Assembly Transportation Committee agenda for early next week. If enacted, this legislation would add human organ delivery vehicles to the New York State list of authorized emergency vehicles, define the transport of human organs and tissue as an emergency operation, and require drivers of such vehicles to have appropriate training in operating an emergency vehicle. These amendments would allow for the quick and efficient transport of organs and tissue, which would give surgical teams more time to recover and transplant organs and improve patients' health outcomes.
