There are over 120,000 people listed for an organ transplant nationwide. Nearly 10,000 of those people live right here in New York. Break that down further and the data shows that over 8,400 New Yorkers are waiting for a kidney transplant and over 1,200 New Yorkers are waiting for a liver transplant.
A partial solution to a life-threatening condition is among us: both kidney and liver transplants can be provided by living donors.
In 2016, 5,978 living donation transplants were performed nationwide (UNOS).
